The rural experience consists of four to eight weeks in a smaller Nebraska community. This compulsory rotation provides the second- or third-year resident with an opportunity to practice with other experienced doctors in a family medicine group as a junior partner in their practice. The rotation includes the care of hospitalized patients.
Standard living arrangements are provided for the residents and their families. Each resident is offered a chance to become involved in community activities and to experience the lifestyle of the rural physician.
