Kim Bauman, MD Kim’s favorite saying is “Sometimes you just have to take the leap and find your wings on the way down.” She took a big leap by leaving the family farm and her high school biology classroom in Gothenburg, Nebraska, for medical school at UNMC. She also has a B.S. and M.S. in education from UNK. She chose the Lincoln Family Medicine Program because she wanted to be in a community program and have the opportunity to work with a group of residents as a team. She likes family medicine because of the lifelong relationships that are built with patients. She wanted to move to Lincoln because the city and schools provide excellent educational and extracurricular opportunities for her three children. The most important thing in her life is her family especially her husband, Joe. Sometime you should ask her to sing one of her biology songs she used to sing to her students. If Kim weren’t a doctor or a teacher, she’d be a professional student. |

He received a B.S. in biochemistry from Nebraska Wesleyan and an M.D. from Creighton University. His fiancé, Katy, is the most important person in his life. According to Ben, some of the best features of the Lincoln Family Medicine Program are the nice people, the unopposed program, and the Huskers. He loves the variety that family medicine has to offer and enjoys gathering facts and putting together a diagnosis. Lindsay Rice, MD According to Lindsay, “I love it all – that’s why I do family medicine.” She doesn’t like being minimally involved in a patient’s care and wants to be a part of the entire picture. She has lived all over the Midwest including Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas, and she received a B.S. in biochemistry from UNL. She came back to the city of her alma mater for her family medicine residency after graduating from medical school at the University of Missouri. She chose the Lincoln Family Medicine Program because she wanted the opportunity to be the only residents in town with many options to customize her education. Her hobbies include riding horses, being outdoors, and baking pies. She could not live without ice cream and her husband, Parker. Her favorite saying is from one of her diabetic patients…”But I use that sugar free syrup on my pancakes.” FYI…One of her goals is to get a pilot’s license someday. |
