Meet Dr. Caty Ward
Dr. Caty Ward grew up in Cairo, NE, a small community outside of Grand Island. She attended Chadron State College (known for running back Danny Woodhead who played for several NFL teams) where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology, with an option in Human Biology. She earned her Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, her greatest accomplishment so far she feels.
Growing up Dr. Ward wanted to be a veterinarian but chose to become a Family Medicine physician. She likes being able to treat a wide range of illnesses and age groups throughout life.
Why did she choose Lincoln for her residency program? “When I was a student and did rotation here, I felt like part of the team and not just an outsider,” Dr. Ward says. She’s looking forward to her rotations in OB to gain more hands on experience.
After her residency, Dr. Ward plans to move back to central NE to practice medicine. Dr. Ward is married to husband Kyle, and they have two “fur” children: Rori, a Toy Australian Shepherd, and Zelda, a German Shepherd-Husky mix. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, riding horses, and canoeing, or catching a revitalizing nap. Some of her favorite things include the Nebraska Cornhuskers, ice cream, pizza, the movie “The Cowboys”, and the band Guns ‘n Roses. Her role model is her mother and she enjoys spending time with family. Her favorite saying is, “You know what I mean?”
