Aly Wurster, DO
Third-year Resident

Aly Wurster, DO, grew up in Lincoln, and is happy to be back in her hometown again. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. She went on to obtain her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University. Growing up, Dr. Wurster knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine because she enjoys getting to know people and finding ways to help them.

Dr. Wurster chose Family Medicine as it affords her the opportunity to work with people of all ages and a variety of medical conditions. She enjoys seeing patients in a clinic setting where she can get to know them in a low-stress environment and help them optimize their health. One thing she is looking forward to is the continuity of care she will be able to provide. Her advice to patients: a healthy lifestyle is the best medicine.

When it came to selecting a family medicine residency program, Lincoln Family Medicine Program was the right choice for Dr. Wurster. She remembers feeling welcomed, involved, and comfortable when she did a sub-internship here during her fourth year. At the time, her father was very ill and she felt the residents and faculty genuinely cared and were there to support her through that difficult time. First and foremost, the people are what she loves about Lincoln’s Program. Following residency, she would like to practice near family, possibly in a rural setting, but she knows that’s a ways off and plans can change.

Dr. Wurster loves being close to her family and childhood friends. Her mom is her role model, and she’s proud of pursuing her dreams in spite of any challenges. She’s a big fan of Nebraska Volleyball and Ivanna Cone ice cream. She enjoys walking and playing with her two dogs, Duke who is a Great Dane and Motley who is a mutt, cooking, gardening, and being with family in her free time. She’s looking forward to becoming an aunt in August.
