Mikaila Wallace, DO
Third-year Resident

Mikaila Wallace, DO, is from Maryville, Missouri. Growing up, Dr. Wallace knew she wanted to be a physician. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pre-professional Zoology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. She went on to attain her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences Kirksville School of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri.

Combining her love of science and connecting with people of all ages were the main reasons why Dr. Wallace chose to go into Family Medicine. She likes the ability to develop lifelong relationships with her patients and help them to accomplish their health goals. The day-to-day variety of patients and medical conditions is what she loves. She especially enjoys Women’s Health, working with women through all stages of life, ensuring they have a voice and access to the preventive care they need.

Dr. Wallace chose to complete her residency at Lincoln Family Medicine Program because she wanted to receive full scope, family medicine training that included surgical Obstetrics. She feels Lincoln’s program provides this in an environment designed for optimal learning. The comprehensive hands-on training and dedication to producing full scope family physicians was evident. She also noticed that residents were welcoming, spoke very highly of the faculty and administration, and most of all, were still excited about learning medicine. She’s looking forward to rotations in OB/GYN as she enjoys delivering babies and working with women through their pregnancy. After residency, Dr. Wallace would like to practice in a rural area and be an advocate for rural communities. One thing she likes to tell her patients is to ask questions– there is no dumb question, especially when it comes to their health.

When she’s not busy taking care of patients, Dr. Wallace enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. Her mom is her role model and says she embodies compassion, hard work, and has a love of lifelong learning. Running, reading, swimming, rock climbing, walking her dogs, and traveling are activities she enjoys doing. She’s currently set a goal to run a half marathon in all 50 states. She’s run the Lincoln Half Marathon already and loves the community and people here!
