Viola Currie, DO

First-year Resident

Growing up, Viola Currie, DO, always loved science and math—but what really drew her to medicine were the moments of connection. She discovered that problem-solving, critical thinking, and being a good listener weren’t just important skills—they were key to making a real difference in people’s lives. Becoming a doctor felt like the perfect way to bring all of that together.

Having an opportunity to care for people at every stage of life was why family medicine was the right choice for Dr. Currie. Building long-term relationships with patients and their families is what makes this work so meaningful for her. From pregnancy and infancy to childhood and adulthood, she values the continuity of care that’s at the heart of Family Medicine.

Dr. Currie chose the Lincoln Family Medicine Residency Program because of the full-spectrum training, strong ties to the community, and the unique experience of being part of an unopposed program. And for her, the residents truly make the program special.

Dr. Currie was born in India but moved to Omaha, Nebraska at a young age. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Creighton University in Omaha and her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in New Mexico. She and her fiancé, Gary, love spending time with their two kittens, Bella and Radar, and hanging out with family and friends. She’s a big fan of murder mysteries and romantic comedies.
